MY FOCUS
Responsible Spending
Collaborative Problem Solving
Our budget and spending should reflect the needs of the community. I hear your voices during town halls and I see your posts on social media. We live in the great North and that comes with uncertainties, we need to invest in preventive measures to limit the devastating effects of fire, floods, etc. Our municipalities' strategic plan should be reviewed often to ensure we are investing in ways that will benefit the community. Specific, well-thought-out goals will help prevent aimless spending.
I will support developing creative solutions to complicated issues. Concerns surrounding issues such as FIFO (Fly In Fly Out) have multiple layers and will not be solved with an all-or-nothing mindset. Our leadership needs to create new policies that support hiring local employees to fill roles without leaving large companies with vacant positions for long periods of time. It's a hard problem to solve, but not impossible.
Support Social Services
At 19, I was a single Mom living in Wood Buffalo's low-income housing. I worked three jobs to have enough money to pay my rent, feed my daughter and pay for childcare. I relied heavily on the incredible social programs here in Wood Buffalo and I truly understand how lack of services can devastate an already struggling family. Mom's, Dad's, Grandparents, Caregivers and people who are experiencing homelessness, I see you, I am listening and will continue to advocate on behalf of you.
